Toronto FC legend Sebastian Giovinco might soon return to Major League Soccer. Surprisingly, however, it won’t be in a black and red jersey.
According to reports from Italy, MLS powerhouse LA Galaxy is interested in Giovinco and will try to lure him back to the United States. The 34-year-old forward is currently playing in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal.
If the Galaxy manages to land Giovinco, he would reunite with head coach Greg Vanney. The duo previously won the MLS Cup in Toronto in 2017.
Sebastian Giovinco played four seasons for Toronto (2015-2018), during which he was considered one of the best players in the MLS. He scored 83 goals in 142 appearances while earning four MLS All-Star nods and MLS MVP Award.
Giovinco parted ways with Toronto ahead of the 2019 MLS season after failing to agree to a new contract with the club. He was transferred to Al-Hilal for a reported fee of $3 million.
Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, Giovinco helped Hilal to win the national championship, King Cup trophy, and AFC Champions League. He has 14 goals and 17 assists in 71 games in all competitions.
