Since announcing his departure from Borussia Dortmund, star attacking midfielder Marco Reus has been linked with a move to MLS. The list of his suitors included Charlotte FC and St. Louis City, but it appears that the former Germany international will not join either of these teams. Instead, he is currently closest to suiting up for the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Jeff Carlisle of ESPN recently reported that Galaxy is closing in on a deal for Reus, and both sides are optimistic about getting it over the finish line. However, more talks are expected to take place before the agreement is finalized.
It won’t be a surprise if Galaxy manages to pull off this deal, considering they have been a team of choice for a lot of European high-profile names. It all started with David Beckham, with the likes of Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole and Zlatan Ibrahimovic following.
By adding Reus, Galaxy would further boost its already efficient attacking line and continue its push to emerge on top of the Western Conference. The LA team is currently third in the standings with the same number of points (43) as the leaders LAFC.
Marco Reus would join Galaxy as a free agent, likely signing a Designated Player Contract. He previously spent 12 seasons with Borussia, making 429 appearances in all competitions and scoring 170 goals for the German club.
