It looks like LA Galaxy isn’t done constructing their roster for 2019 MLS season just yet. The team announced on Thursday that they acquired Costa Rica international defender Giancarlo Gonzalez from Seria A team Bologna.

Gonzalez, who returns to MLS after playing 17 games with Columbus Crew in 2014, will join Galaxy ahead of their upcoming clash with Philadelphia Union.

Galaxy confirmed the transfer via their social media.

According to ESPN, LA Galaxy acquired Giancarlo Gonzalez through a series of transactions which led to them moving to No. 1 allocation spot. The team first traded 400,000 in Targeted Allocation Money to Orlando City for No. 2 pick in the allocation order, before packaging the pick with 2020 SuperDraft first-rounder and sending the package to Toronto FC in order to move at the top of the allocation order.

“Giancarlo is a very experienced and talented central defender that we believe will strengthen our backline,” – said LA Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese. “He is familiar with MLS, and he has played at the highest levels across the world. We are excited to add him to our roster and look forward to integrating him into our team.”

Gonzalez spent the most of his career in Europe where he played for Vålerenga, Palermo, and Bologna. He also made 71 appearances for Costa Rica national team and scored two goals in the process.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
