Kyrie Irving Says Boston Is More of a Sports City Than Cleveland

Apparently, there is no love lost between Kyrie Irving and city of Cleveland.

It has been more than a month since Kyrie Irving left Cleveland Cavaliers and joined the Boston Celtics, but it looks like he still can’t leave the past behind. Although he remained quiet after making a trade request to the Cavs, now that the trade has been finalized, Kyrie Irving often talks about his former organization. Of course, most of the time Irving is asked about the franchise and his former teammates and chooses his words. But sometimes it looks like he doesn’t miss the opportunity to take little shots, especially when it comes to LeBron James. Now, he moved from all of that and decided he will go after the city of Cleveland.

It’s exciting to be back on the East Coast,“- said Irving, who grew up in New Jersey. “It’s fast-paced. A lot of different cultures, food and people. You get it all, especially in Boston. You would go to Cleveland, and it would be at nighttime, and things would be going on, but you just see a vast difference.

Maybe people wouldn’t hold any grudges against him if this was all Irving said. But, he continued.

Boston, I’m driving in and (thinking), ‘I’m really playing in a real, live sports city?’”

Although there were no comments from the Cavaliers about this, we are sure they didn’t take it lightly. Don’t get us wrong, sport in Cleveland isn’t the best in the nation especially with the struggling Browns. But to say that Cleveland isn’t “a real, live sports city” is a bit too much, don’t you think?

We will have to wait until January 4th to see Kyrie Irving back in the Quicken Loans Arena, but there is a sense that Irving won’t be so warmly welcomed, at least by the fans. He did his part for the NBA Title, but the breakup was pretty bad.
