France’s national soccer team might have to play out the group stage of the EURO 2024 without their star attacker, Kylian Mbappé. The new Real Madrid player suffered a nose fracture in the opening 1-0 win against Austria and will miss at least one game while recovering.

Mbappé got hurt in the second half after clashing with Kevin Danso’s shoulder while attempting a header. He immediately received treatment and left the game shortly after.

The first reports indicated that Mbappé might require surgery that would rule him out for the remainder of the tournament. However, the France Football Federation (FFF) came out with a statement later in the day to confirm that Mbappé managed to avoid the surgery. Instead, he will wear a mask to protect his face.

“Mbappé will receive treatment in the next few days, but he will not undergo surgery in the immediate future,” said FFF in a statement. “A mask will be made for him so that the number 10 of the French national team can prepare for his return to the competition after a period dedicated to treatment”.

Mbappé later went on social media to ask his followers whether they had some ideas for the mask.

Reportedly, Mbappé will be out of France’s squad for the upcoming game against the Netherlands on Friday. He could return for the final match of Group D against Poland next week in case France ends up needing a positive result.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
