The New York Knicks announced on Monday that the team signed veterans Marcus Morris and Landry Shamet to Exhibit 9 contract.
The Exhibit 9 contracts are a form of non-guaranteed contracts that allow the players to take part in training camps with a team. This means that Morris and Shamet are not guaranteed to make the 15-man roster but are compensated during training camp and get protection in case of an injury.
Morris, who is entering his 14th season in the NBA, played a combined 49 games with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2023-24. He averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 40.3% from three-point line.
Shamet, on the other hand, is a six-year NBA veteran. He spent last season with the Washington Wizards, averaging 7.1 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while knocking down 33.8% of his shots beyond the arc.
If they have a good training camp, both Morris and Shamet could provide depth for the Knicks team that has struggled to remain healthy in recent seasons. This is particularly the case for Morris, who can be a reliable bench contributor thanks to his experience in the league and his ability to stretch the floor.
