The Golden State Warriors’ combined efforts to help Klay Thompson shoot fourteen 3-pointers on Monday’s game against the Chicago Bulls, and break Steph Curry’s NBA record in just 26 minutes. In the same game, the Warriors scored 92 points in the first half and won the game 149-124.

While all the stars at Golden State impressed, it was Thompson’s record that hit the headlines. The 28-year-old proved his critics wrong by showing why he is one of the league’s best shooters. With the help of teammates, the 28-year-old converted 14 shots to break Curry’s previous record of 13 3-pointers.

“I was so anxious because any time there’s an NBA record at stake, you get a little nervous,” Thompson said of his performance. “I’m just so blessed to play with the guys that I do. It was an amazing night I’ll hopefully never forget.”

The 28-year-old also gave a shout to his teammates for helping him break the record.

“It’s a collective effort. And I don’t know if I would be able to break these records I have gotten in my past like tonight without the system I play in or the team I play with, the guys I play with.”

Considering Thompson came into Monday’s game with a horrendous record of three-pointers, his performance was unexpected. Still, the focus was on the Warriors’ selflessness that saw almost every player in the game feed Thompson with the ball to break the record.
