Golden State Warriors’ All-Star Klay Thompson will be one of the high profile free agents in the summer of 2019, but it seems like he won’t waste much time on thinking about his next destination. As he stated on numerous occasions before Thompson that he would like to stay with Golden State, even if that means earning less money.

Speaking with reporters after Thursday’s practice, Klay Thompson talked about the Warriors’ team and how this group of players can keep winning for years to come.

It’s crazy because we are back-to-back champs, but at the same time I feel like we’re all relatively young and we can still get to another level and keep winning.” – said Thompson. “Not just this year, but years beyond. Not a lot of guys can do that with their team. So I love coming to work every day because I realize this is a special group and a special time to be a Warrior.”

When asked whether the opportunity to win with this team will play a part in his free-agency decision, the 28-year-old responded affirmatively.

Yeah, definitely,” – he said. “I think it would be stupid not to be. It’s hard to walk away from something — you were here when it started and yeah, you just want to stay on the train as long as you can.”

The summer of 2019 will be a turning point for the Golden State Warriors since both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant are becoming free agents. The team could keep both players on the roster, but one of them would have to take a sizable pay cut. It is believed that this individual would be Thompson since Durant has already played two years with the Warriors on a contract well below his market value.

In case that Klay Thompson instead decides to get paid, he would have several attractive options to choose from. One of them is joining LeBron James and playing in his native Los Angeles, while others include teaming up with another free agent like Kawhi Leonard or Jimmy Butler and trying to start a new dynasty.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
