They say that age is just a number, and it seems that veteran kicker Adam Vinatieri is set on to prove this. According to NFL Networks’ Tom Pelissero, Vinatieri wants to play in 2020 despite the fact that he will turn 48 this year.

However, Pelissero also reports that Vinatieri encountered some bumps on the road to get ready for his 25th NFL season. The three-time Pro Bowler recently underwent knee surgery, and his rehab is taking slower than expected due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Adam Vinatieri is currently a free agent after Indianapolis Colts opted not to renew his contract following disastrous performances in 2019. Vinatieri had a career-bad year, converting just 68.0 percent of his field-goal attempts and 78.6 percent extra-point kicks.

Over the course of 24 seasons in NFL, Vinatieri played with New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, winning four Super Bowl rings. He currently holds several NFL records, including most consecutive field goals made with 44, most career points with 2,673, and most combined regular-season and postseason games played with 397.

It’s unclear whether Vinatieri will recover in time to play this year or whether a team will even give him a chance to do so. Still, we know one thing for sure; he isn’t ready to walk away from football just yet.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
