Veteran forward Kei Kamara is back for another round in the Major League Soccer after signing a deal with CF Montréal on Friday. According to the club’s announcement, the Sierra Leone international inked a contract through 2022 with an option for 2023.

Kamara started his professional career in the United States and has played for eight different MLS teams throughout his career. He scored a total of 130 goals in the league and is currently fifth on the all-time goal-scoring list. If he gets a chance to have a more prominent role with Montreal, the 37-year-old could easily improve his ranking, considering he needs only four goals to get in the top three.

“Kei is a highly experienced player in MLS whose offensive abilities will help us both on the pitch and in the locker room with our young group of players,” said Montreal’s sporting director Olivier Renard in a statement. “We’re happy to welcome him to the club.”

Kamara, who has one MLS All-Star appearance to his name, last played in MLS in 2020. He split the season between Minnesota United and Colorado Rapids, scoring a total of four goals in 15 appearances.

In the summer of 2021, Kamara inked a deal with the Finnish side HIFK Fotboll until the end of the year. However, despite scoring five goals and adding two assists in 14 games, the club decided not to pick up his option, making him a free agent.
