One of the biggest surprises of the summer transfer window came to light on Monday after sources revealed that Juventus’s Blaise Matuidi is set to sign for MLS’s Inter Miami this summer.
Matuidi, a regular starter for Juve this season and a former France international, is reportedly set to sign a contract with David Beckham’s MLS side after passing a medical exam for the club.
The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, who joined Juve in summer 2017, has ample experience at top European clubs and will immediately become one of Major League Soccer’s biggest stars upon arrival in the United States.
Matuidi played in 45 matches for the Old Lady this season, tallying one goal and two assists. His current contract at the club was set to expire next summer, and it appears that both sides have simply agreed to move on.
Inter Miami, which played its first MLS game ever this March, is an ambitious project which is headed by the former England international star. Matuidi will join a roster with talents such as Rodolfo Pizarro and Matias Pellegrini.
Expect for an official announcement from Juventus and Inter Miami to be made at some point this week or next.
