Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is set to become the head of global soccer at Red Bull, effective on January 1, 2025. This comes after months of speculation about Klopp’s next career move following his decision to step down as Liverpool manager this past summer.

“After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this,” Klopp said of his appointment. “The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.”

Klopp will be in charge of overseeing Red Bull’s network of clubs, ensuring that they remain on track to achieve the group’s “strategic vision”. His daily tasks will include aiding the clubs’ sporting directors, training coaches, and heading up Red Bull’s global scouting operation.

After leading Liverpool for nine seasons, Klopp decided to step down from his role to take a break from coaching. It has been reported by sources in Germany that his contract with Red Bull contains a break clause on the chance that the head coaching role for the German national team becomes available after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
