Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is hoping he will get an opportunity to coach his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo again. According to a recent report by Fotomac, Mourinho personally reached out to Ronaldo to see whether he would be interested in coming to Turkey.
Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Mario Branco, is also part of the push, having already contracted Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes. Ronaldo, who turns 40 in February, is under contract with Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr until the summer of 2025, and there has been little progress in talks about an extension between the two sides.
It is hard to see Ronaldo joining Fenerbache in January, considering his contract with Al Nassr, which makes him one of the highest-paid players in the world. However, he could sign a pre-contract in January and come to the Turkish Super Lig ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Mourinho and Ronaldo previously worked together with La Liga giants Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013. During their three seasons together, the pair won La Liga and Copa del Rey, while Ronaldo received one of his five Ballon d’Or awards.
Mourinho took over Fenerbahce in the summer and currently has them second in Super Lig standings with five points less than leaders Galatasaray.
Ronaldo, on the other hand, has 11 goals and three assists in 16 games with Al Nassr.
