It is strange to see former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho out of a job for almost a year, especially since he is considered to be one of the best in the game. However, as it turns out, being unemployed is actually Mourinho’s choice.

According to Goal, Mourinho rejected a number of job offers in the past as he eyes a return to his former club Real Madrid. The La Liga giants’ current boss Zinedine Zidane is considered to be on the hot seat following a bad start of the season, and if Madrid decides to change things up, the Portuguese manager thinks he would have a good chance of landing the job.

Mourinho spent three years as Real Madrid’s manager (2010-2013) managing to win three trophies during his time in Spain including La Liga in 2011/12 season.

The sources close to the situation say that in recent months, Jose Mourinho received job offers from teams like Lille, Wolfsburg, Schalke, Monaco, and AC Milan but rejected these opportunities. The clubs that Mourinho was ready to consider were reportedly Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich, but neither of them was interested in his services.

Since being sacked by Man Utd in December, Mourinho has been working as an analyst for several media outlets including Bein Sports and Sky Sports.
