Real Madrid could turn to a familiar face to replace manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is expected to leave the club in the summer. According to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportive, the La Liga powerhouse is strongly considering a reunion with Jose Mourinho.

Ancelotti has an agreement in place with the Brazilian Football Confederation and will take over the reins of Brazil’s national team once the 2023-24 club season wraps up. Real wants to have a new manager in place sooner than later and has reportedly considered several candidates for the position, including former players Raul and Xabi Alonso.

However, while Raul and Alonso are considered to have a bright future in coaching, the knock on them is that they are too inexperienced for Real. Mourinho, on the other hand, has a track record of being able to handle the pressure of managing a big club.

Mourinho spent three seasons during his first stint with Real. While his time at Santiago Bernabeu was controversial, he was still largely successful. Mourinho won three trophies with the club, including Real’s first La Liga title in four years in 2011-12.

Mourinho is currently the head coach of AS Roma. His contract with the Seria A side is set to expire at the end of the season, and reports from Italy indicate that he isn’t interested in extending it.
