The Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid was unable to feature in his team’s 129-126 overtime win over the Indiana Pacers after experiencing left foot soreness. Embiid was examined by team doctors on Wednesday morning, who did not see any long-term issues with the player. Initially listed as questionable upon examination, Embiid was ultimately ruled out of the Pacers game on Wednesday afternoon.

Embiid picked up his injury after landing awkwardly on Pelicans big man Jaxson Hayes during the fourth quarter of the 76ers’ 120-111 win over New Orleans.

76ers coach Doc Rivers revealed on Wednesday that Embiid did not experience pain straight away after being injured. “He didn’t talk about a lot of soreness right afterward,” Rivers stated. “Then, later that night, he said his foot was bothering him and was sore, and then more the next day.”

Although missing Embiid’s presence on the court, the 76ers managed to rise to victory against the Pacers with backup Montrezl Harrell filling in at center. James Harden also produced an impressive performance, scoring 26 points on the night.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
