New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will be sidelined indefinitely after being diagnosed with mono. This is bad news for the Jets after suffering a couple of key injuries in Week 1.

The team has already lost wide receiver Quincy Enunwa to a season-ending neck injury and are waiting to hear the results from the MRI of star free agent RB Le’veon Bell. While coach Adam Gase isn’t too concerned about Bell, his injury could be problematic due to lack of physical contact after sitting out the entire last season over contract issues.

Backup QB Trevor Siemian will start in Darnold’s place Monday night against the Cleveland Browns and Luke Falk was called up to be the No. 2 QB.

While Darnold underperformed in the heartbreaking loss in Week 1, this is a big loss to the Jets’ offense as he is scheduled to return no earlier than Week 6.
