The New York Jets are adding another playmaker to their already great defense. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets have agreed to a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles that will see them land Pro Bowl linebacker Haason Reddick.

In order to acquire Reddick, the Jets are sending a conditional third-rounder in 2026 to Philly. The pick will become a second-round selection if Reddick ends up playing at least 67.5% of snaps this upcoming season and records at least 10 sacks.

The Jets have been on the market for a veteran edge rusher after losing Bryce Huff, who signed with the Eagles in free agency. They were interested in free agents Shaq Barrett and Jadeveon Clowney but missed out on both. It was at this point that they decided to take a trade route.

In Reddick, the Jets will be getting one of the most accomplished defensive players in the league in terms of getting to the opposing quarterback. In the past four seasons, the former Temple product notched 50.5 sacks, which is fourth-most in the league during that time span. He also made two Pro Bowls in each of the past two seasons.

Reddick is entering the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract and has previously asked to be traded after the Eagles refused to give him a new deal. It remains to be seen whether the Jets will end up giving him one straight away or wait until they are sure he can continue producing at a high level.
