Veteran linebacker Jaylon Smith didn’t last long with the Green Bay Packers. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Packers opted to cut Smith less than a month after signing him.

Smith ends his stint in Green Bay, having suited up in two games and spending just 27 snaps on the field. He had just one tackle to show for and was a healthy scratch in Thursday Night Football upset against the Arizona Cardinals.

Smith started the season with the Dallas Cowboys but was released in early October after being sparingly used throughout the first six weeks. He had multiple suitors, including the Kansas City Chiefs, after hitting the free agency before opting to play in Green Bay despite being offered more money elsewhere.

While the move didn’t work out for Smith, the 26-year-old player shouldn’t have issues landing a job soon. The Chiefs might not be interested after acquiring veteran Melvin Ingram, but the LB-needy teams like the Washington Football Team and the Carolina Panthers are expected to give him a call sooner than later.

Jaylon Smith entered the NFL as the Cowboys’ second-round pick in 2016. He played 70 games for the franchise and contributed with 516 tackles, 9.0 sacks, 20 pass deflections, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
