The Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has become the first NBA player to sign with Donda Sports, a marketing firm that is part of the clothing line of music mogul Kanye West. According to Brown, the decision to join Donda Sports marks the beginning of a “beautiful collaboration” with West.
“It was time. For me, like I said, anytime I make a life decision, I contemplate. I think about things deeply. And from what I want to do, the missions I want to get accomplished, it was the right decision,” Brown confirmed ahead of the Celtics’ Game 1 clash with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
The agreement stipulates that Donda Sports will handle all of Brown’s marketing deals. The 25-year-old player’s shoe deal with Adidas recently expired, thereby making Brown a free agent in this domain for the first time since signing on with the sporting fashion label back in 2016.
Prior to signing the marketing deal, Brown and West already established a relationship with one another. While criticism has been directed at West on occasion due to his outspokenness, Brown has confirmed that such attention does not bother him or get in the way of his partnership intentions.
“People have concerns or critiques, etc., but in the world we live in, there’s concerns and critiques in any and everything,” Brown affirmed.
