The Los Angeles Clippers star guard James Harden delivered an impressive 39-point performance on Sunday night to lead his team to a 126-122 win over the Denver Nuggets. In the process, Harden also became just the second player in NBA history to score 3,000 career three-pointers.
Harden reached the milestone in the first half with his second third-pointer of the game. He went on to score four more times beyond the arc, upping his total to 3,004 career three-pointers. The leader on the list is Stephen Curry, who made 3,810 three-pointers over the course of time in the NBA.
“Another one of those accomplishments that you never take for granted,” Harden said after the game. “The amount of work that I’ve put in — countless days and nights where I put the work in — a lot of people don’t see it, but the results happen, so I’m just thankful.”
Harden had a near triple-double, scoring 39 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing 11 assists.
With Paul George leaving in free agency and fellow superstar Kawhi Leonard out due to injury, Harden is shouldering the load of being the Clippers’ most important player so far in the 2024-25 season. He is averaging 22.3 points, his most since the 2021-22 season while having 7.2 rebounds, 8.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
The LA Clippers are currently seventh in the Western Conference with a 13-9 record.
