Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2019 season is turning from bad to worse. After losing their franchise quarterback to injury in Week 1, Jags now face the possibility of parting ways with Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

According to ESPN, Ramsey wants to leave the team and has handed in a trade request on Monday. The news was confirmed to the magazine by the player’s David Mulugheta.

Reportedly, Ramsey could be out of Jacksonville as early as this week, with the team already talking trade options with potential suitors. It’s believed that the Jags are asking a first-round pick and other compensation in return for Ramsey.

The reason for why Jalen Ramsey wants to leave Jaguars is the recent conflict he had with the team’s head coach Doug Marrone. In a Week 2 game against Houston Texans, Ramsay was seen yelling at Marrone on the sidelines, being upset that his coach didn’t use a challenge on a call that he thought was wrong. The two then exchanged words on the bench. While Marrone downplayed the importance of this altercation after the game, it seems like Ramsey isn’t so eager to forget everything.

Another reason for Ramsey’s discontent in Jacksonville might be the fact that the team refused to negotiate his new contract this offseason. He is currently in the fourth year of his rookie contract with Jags also picking up the fifth-year option for 2020.

Jaguars took Jalen Ramsay 6th overall in 2016, and he managed to establish himself as one of the best corners in the game since them. He was named into PFWA All-Rookie Team while also earning Pro Bowl nods in the past two seasons.

Ramsay’s NFL career stats include 193 tackles, 44 pass deflections, nine interceptions, and one defensive touchdown.
