One of the top defensive ends in the NFL will stay put with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2019 season after the team picked up his option for next season.

Calais Campbell, who has been named to the Pro Bowl during the past two seasons, had a team option for $12 million dollars with the Jaguars.

The franchise decided to keep Campbell around for another season, despite his relatively advanced age at 32, due to his excellent production since signing with Jacksonville in free agency.

Campbell has played all 32 games in his two seasons with the Jaguars and has become one of the NFL´s premier defensive players in the time.

During the past two seasons, he has recorded 25 quarterback sacks and 34 tackles for a loss.

Campbell, who will turn 33 years old on the 1st of September, was named to the NFL All-Pro Team for the first time in his career in 2017 after a standout season.

Despite battling injuries in 2018, he still managed to play in all 16 of Jacksonville´s games, recording 10.5 sacks and anchoring the Jaguar defense.

Campbell could stay with Jacksonville in 2020 as well if the team picks up his option again after next season.
