Jacksonville Jaguars finally decided to address their running game issues and acquire a reliable running back. Jags announced on Friday that they have acquired running back Carlos Hyde from Cleveland Browns. They sent a 2019 fifth-round pick in the opposite direction.

This was a trade that looks like a win-win for both teams on paper. Jacksonville’s running backs have been facing with several setbacks this year with starter Leonard Fournette being out for four out of the last five games while Corey Grant suffered a season-ending injury.

With Carlos Hyde, the Jags will receive an immediate boost to their running game considering that the 28-year-old is looking great this year and has already rushed for 382 yards and five touchdowns in 2018. Hyde will not only fix the Jacksonville’s short-term issues, but he can also be a contributor even when Fournette fully recovers.

When it comes to Cleveland Browns’ motivations to make a trade, they are really simple. Although Carlos Hyde was the team’s leading rusher, Browns wanted to give their 2018’s second-round pick Nick Chubb more carries. Chubb showed flashes of exciting talent this season and already started to make big plays for the team. The 22-year-old is also averaging astonishing 10.8 yards per carry and Cleveland hopes to see more of the same when they give the rookie extra playing time.
