Veteran defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has backtracked on last week’s comments about his Cleveland Browns’ star teammate Myles Garrett. Clowney previously said that the Browns favored Garrett throughout the 2022 season by giving him easier matchups.

Clowney’s comments caused quite a stir in the Browns’ locker room, prompting head coach Kevin Stefanski to leave him inactive in the team’s last game of the regular season. This apparently gave the three-time Pro Bowler some time to think about his words, and he decided to apologize on Friday.

“As a son and parent I want to fully apologize to anyone I offended, specifically Myles Garrett and his family,” Clowney said via the Associated Press. “As a man I have reached out to Myles specifically to apologize. I will continue to learn and grow as a I move forward.”

Despite making his apologies, it is hard to see Clowney making a return to the Browns next season. He will become a free agent in March after spending the 2022 campaign on a one-year, $11 million deal. The 29-year-old player himself said he’s “95% sure” he won’t be back.

Clowney initially joined the Browns ahead of the 2021 NFL season and proved to be a great running mate for Garret. He played 14 games and had 37 tackles, 9.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles. This season, however, turned out to be a lot more challenging for the former first-overall pick. He only managed 28 tackles and 2.0 sacks over the course of the campaign.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
