The memory of Mario Balotelli as one of the most talented strikers in the world is still fresh in many people’s minds. But the career of the troubled Italian has been on a downwards trajectory for some time now and Balotelli has been struggling to find a club that wants him since being release by Brescia this past summer.

Still, there appears to be a chance for Balotelli to return to the field, even if it may not be in the place he imagined.

According to multiple reports from Europe, English Championship side Barnsley has taken interest in Balotelli lately. The club has been struggling to find its form to start the new season, despite entering 2020/21 with big ambition and believe the 30-year-old player could boost their attack despite all the baggage that follows him.

Mario Balotelli last played in native Italy, where he played with his hometown club Brescia. Balotelli signed a multi-year deal in the summer of 2019, but the marriage didn’t last long.

After Brescia returned to training following the break caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Balotelli decided not to show up for multiple practices. This led him to have several verbal altercations with the club’s brass, which decided to release him after.

Balotelli scored five goals in the 19 times he suited up for Brescia. He played for eight different prior, including Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Liverpool.
