After breaking the NCAA scoring record this season, Iowa star Caitlin Clark is expected to be taken first overall pick in the upcoming 2024 WNBA Draft. But there is another basketball league that would want to see Clark in its ranks.

According to a recent report, Clark has been offered a $5 million contract to play in rapper Ice Cube’s BIG3 league. For comparison, Clark could expect to earn around $74,000 from her rookie deal in the WNBA.

Following the report, Ice Cube went on X (former Twitter) to confirm that BIG3 has been in discussions with Clark. According to the BIG3 founder, the talks were intended to be kept private during Clark’s run with Iowa at the NCAA tournament. The first-seeded Hawkeyes are scheduled to face fifth-seeded Colorado in Sweet 16.

“I won’t deny what’s now already out there: BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3,” Cube added.

It remains to be seen whether Clark ends up entertaining BIG3’s offer. According to Ice Cube, her participation in the league wouldn’t prevent her from playing in the WNBA, and it would be for only 10 games.

BIG3 is a 3-on-3 basketball league founded in 2017. It featured a number of retired NBA legends serving as either players or coaches, including Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, Lisa Leslie, Rick Barry, and Stephen Jackson. The league’s 2024 season will tip off on June 15.
