There is a reunion happening at Inter Miami. The MLS side confirmed that Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets is set to join the club and play again with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi.
Miami made the announcement via a video posted on social media that featured quotes from notable soccer coaches and players about Busquets.
Busquets reportedly had lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia clubs but wished to play again with Messi and experience MLS. He is expected to sign a deal that will tie him with Inter through 2025.
Sergio Busquets joined Barcelona’s academy in 2005 as a teenager and made his debut for the senior team two years later. He went on to play 722 games for Barca in all competitions, helping the club win 32 trophies in the process.
Busquets was also a regular fixture with Spain, making 143 appearances on the international stage. He was part of the Spanish teams that won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the European Championship in 2012.
There is a possibility that Busquets and Messi will be joined by another former Barca player in Miami. According to reports, Inter is also looking to sign left-back Jordi Alba this summer. Alba is currently a free agent and also has offers from several European clubs like Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.
