If the recent reports are true, Inter Miami could soon make a significant addition to their roster.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter is close to adding former MLS MVP Alejandro Pozuelo, who is set to join in a trade with Toronto FC.

Reportedly, Inter will only have to part with $150,000 in allocation money to get Pozuelo in the building. The low price is probably the result of the fact that the 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract.

Pozuelo has a salary of $4.69 million in 2022, making him the fourth-highest paid player in the league. The trade clears a substantial amount of salary of Toronto FC’s books while also clearing out a Designated Player spot that could prove useful later on.

On the other hand, Inter gets one of the best players in MLS in recent years for a bargain price. Pozuelo’s addition will certainly help them get involved in the playoff picture in Eastern Conference and improve on the current no. 9 spot. Also, they will be in the leading position for Pozuelo when he becomes a free agent.

Pozuelo joined Toronto in 2019 after a spell with Belgium’s Genk. He went on to play 99 games in all competitions for the 2017’s MLS Cup champions, scoring 29 goals and adding 26 assists. The Spaniard was honored with the Landon Donovan MVP Award in 2020 and has two MLS Best XI nods.
