On the last day of the transfer period in the English Premier League, Manchester United’s target this summer, Iñaki Williams signed an unusual 9-year contract extension that will keep him in Athletic Bilbao until the 2028-29 season, with his buy-out price now rising to 135 million euros.

The Spanish 24-year-old offensive player spent his entire career in the Baskian giant, starting from the youth selections. He was connected with a transfer to Manchester United for a fee of 80 million euros due to his games last season in which he scored 12 goals. In his career so far, Williams has made 157 appearances for Athletic Bilbao, scoring 49 goals and assisting for 27.

Williams made his debut for the Baskian team on 6th December 2014, following the injury of the team’s first striker Aritz Aduriz, starting with 0-1 loss from Cordoba. Iñaki scored his first goal in February that season during the draw against Italian Serie A Team, Torino in the UEFA Europe League Round of 32. In the end, this helped Bilbao in their quest for a draw.

Williams has also made one appearance for the Spanish national team after replacing Marco Asensio in May 2019 against Bosnia And Herzegovina in a friendly match.
