Miami Hurricanes will have to look for a new head coach for 2019 NCAA season since Mark Richt decided to retire from coaching. Richt, who led Miami to a 7-6 record this season, announced his decision on Sunday.

The decision came after a great deal of thought, discussions with my family, and prayer,” – said Richt in the statement. “This was my decision.”

“The University of Miami has been a part of my life for more than three decades. It shaped me as a young man and provided me with the coaching opportunity of a lifetime. My love for The U is simply great. My true desire is for our football program to return to greatness, and while terribly difficult, I feel that stepping down is in the best interests of the program.”

Mark Richt, who spent his college playing career with Miami University, is best known for his time as head coach of Georgia Bulldogs. He spent 15 years at Georgia, from 2001 to 2015, during which he led the program to 145-51 record and two SEC championships.

After being dismissed by Georgia in 2015, Richt took the job with his alma mater and was tasked with reviving Miami’s football program. The things kicked off well for Hurricanes in his first two seasons, in which he went 9–4 and 10-3, but the team failed to make any major step forward and suffered a handful of ugly losses.

Oregon’s Mario Cristobal and Florida International’s Butch Davis, who coached Miami in the past, are currently the most likely candidates to step in for Mark Richt.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
