Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane scored his 250th goal for the club to secure a 1-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Saturday. This is the most goals that any player has scored for a single Premier League club.
Kane has gotten his season off to a strong start, scoring twice in Spurs’ first three Premier League fixtures. The 29-year-old player scored a late second-half equalizer for Tottenham against Chelsea last weekend in what was a valuable point away from home. Currently, Spurs sit at the top of the Premier League table with seven points in three matches.
Wolves placed heavy pressure on Spurs during the first half of the game, unleashing a barrage of shots against an unsettled-looking Spurs defense. This resulted in boos being directed at Tottenham’s players as they walked off at the half-time whistle.
Spurs stepped up a gear after the interval, with Kane hitting the woodwork after a quick Spurs counterattack. In the 64th minute, Kane scored the goal that he had been seeking, heading home after Perisic directed his header in Kane’s direction following a corner kick. This goal also marked Spurs’ 1000th Premier League goal at home.
Tottenham next faces newly-promoted Nottingham Forest away on Sunday, August 28.
