Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe is reportedly leaving Fox Sports after seven years with the network. Sharpe has become one of the most recognizable faces on sports television in recent years, serving as a co-host on the popular debate show Undisputed alongside Skip Bayless.
Sharpe’s breakup with Fox Sports was reported on Thursday by New York Post’s Ryan Glasspiegel. According to Glasspiegel, Sharpe agreed to a contract buyout agreement with the network and will officially depart after the NBA Finals wrap up in June.
It is unclear whether Sharpe’s exit will have an impact on Undisputed. The most likely outcome is that Fox Sports recruits another strong personality, probably a former athlete, to star alongside Bayless.
Sharpe, on the other hand, will likely get approaches from other networks in case he doesn’t have a new gig already lined up. He is a fan favorite, known for his passionate takes and knowledge of basketball and football.
Shannon Sharpe played his professional football career with the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens. He is considered one of the best tight ends in the history of the game, having won three Super Bowl rings and made eight Pro Bowls teams.
After retiring after the 2003 NFL season, Sharpe joined CBS Sports as a commentator and later worked for various other companies, including Sirius, before starting with Undisputed in 2016.
