The Memphis Grizzlies have locked their talented forward Jaren Jackson Jr. to a new deal. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Jackson agreed to a four-year, $105 million rookie extension with the franchise.

The Grizzlies are expected to make an official announcement at some point this week, although the agreement was already confirmed by the player’s agent Austin Brown.

Jackson spent the better part of the 2020-21 season on the sidelines due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. He returned late in the season and had a good outing in the postseason despite Memphis having an early exit in the first round against the Utah Jazz.

The Memphis Grizzlies drafted Jackson with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Michigan State product has since established himself as one of the most talented power forwards in the league. The only issue for Jackson so far has been injuries, which haven’t allowed him to play a full season during his pro career. Besides the torn meniscus, he also struggled with thigh and quad issues.

Since entering the NBA, Jackson has been averaging 15.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game.
