The Green Bay Packers have reached a deal with defensive tackle Kenny Clark that’s going to make him the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history.

Clark will sign a four-year contract extension worth $70 million with a $25 million signing bonus. The deal makes him the 12th highest-paid defensive player in the league.

Clark has been the anchor of the Green Bay defensive line, registering 16.5 sacks and 172 tackles over the last three years. Considering that the Packers don’t have many other good options in the interior defensive line besides Clark, getting him signed to a long-term deal was a priority for the team this offseason.

Clark was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2020 season and could have potentially played on the franchise tag next year, but the Packers avoided those scenarios by making sure to get a deal done in 2020.

The defensive tackle was selected by Green Bay in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft with the 27th overall pick.

Clark went to UCLA, where he started four games as a true freshman and became a defensive leader in his three years at the university.
