One day after trading cornerback Eli Apple to New Orleans, the New York Giants traded nose guard Damon “Snacks” Harrison to the Detroit Lions for a fifth-round pick on Tuesday, NFL trades’ deadline.

An All-Pro selection in 2016, Harrison played 86 of his first 87 games in the NFL. He was a valuable member of the New York Giants and his arrival in Detroit could help the team with their shoddy defense.

Lately, the Giants had been overlooking Harrison for younger players like B.J. Hill and Dalvin Tomlinson. A move to Detroit gives the 29-year-old more gameplay.

However, Harrison has a lot to prove in Detroit. The Lions are ranked 30th in Defense as on Week 8. Even harder for Griffin is to help the Lions fight off the Seattle Seahawks, the Bears, and the Panthers in Week 8, 10 and 11 respectively.

With a new draft pick, the Giants hopes to rebuild their poor start this season. They stand 1-6 this season and four consecutive losses after Monday night’s 23-20 loss. The Giants also hoped to open up room for draft picks after shipping Eli Apple on Monday. They also clear up to $8 million in salaries with Harrison’s departure.
