New York Giants’ rookie cornerback Sam Beal will most likely have to sit out his first NFL season. According to ESPN‘s Dianna Russin, Beal has aggravated an old shoulder injury on Monday and will undergo a surgery which will rule him out for 2018 season. Other option for the 21-year-old is to play in harness and has a treatment, which is unlikely at this point.

Sam Beal’s injury will undoubtedly cause some problems for the Giants, who hoped he could be an immediate contributor when they selected him in the third round of 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft. With this, Beal became the highest drafted player in the supplemental draft since Browns took wide receiver Josh Gordon in 2012.

Sam’s a very, very talented guy,” – said coach Pat Shurmur on Wednesday, before the injury reports were known to the public. “His movement skills are tremendous and we feel like he could compete to make our team. We felt good about him, we got a chance to visit with him, and he was available, so we committed to him.

Sam Beal played college football at Western Michigan and was named Second Team All-MAC in 2017. He considered making himself eligible for 2018 NFL Draft but decided to stay one more year at Michigan. Beal was projected to go in the first round of 2019 draft but then decided to enter the supplemental draft because his academic eligibility was reportedly pending.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
