The New York Giants will be without their linebacker Jarrad Davis for the entire training camp and possibly longer. According to multiple reports, Davis underwent knee surgery this summer and is expected to miss “significant” time.

Davis re-signed with the Giants on a one-year deal earlier in the offseason and was expected to play a prominent role for the team in 2023.

Davis started the 2022 season with the Detroit Lions practice squad before being picked up by the Giants towards the end of the season. He impressed in his lone regular-season game, getting 0.5 sacks, 11 tackles, and one QB hit.

A strong end of the regular season and a solid showing in the playoffs positioned Davis to be considered a candidate for the starting job in Week 1. Now, the Giants will likely turn to second-year players Darrian Beavers and Micah McFadden to fill the gap.

Jarrad Davis started his NFL career as a first-round selection by the Detroit Lions in 2017. He left the franchise in 2021 for a stint with the New York Jets but ended up returning after just one season. Davis’ career stats include 343 tackles, 11.0 sacks, seven forced fumbles and one interception.
