Things didn’t start well for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho at the Premier League’s new season. After suffering a shocking away defeat against Brighton, United now embarrassed themselves in front of their own fans suffering a 0-3 loss in Monday’s game with Tottenham. Add the overall bad shape the club got itself into lately, and it is not surprising that lots of people are calling for a coach change.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville disagrees and has urged the club not to fire Jose Mourinho. According to Neville, who won 20 trophies with Man Utd, Mourinho should be allowed to see out the end of his contract, and that club of United’s stature can’t “keep jumping around with managers. “

We saw Louis van Gaal sacked after an FA Cup final victory, we saw David Moyes sacked with four games to go of a season, so we are no longer talking about a club that is behaving as it has historically done,” – Neville told Sky Sport’s Monday Night Football. “I accept these are different times and I accept the difficulties and challenges, but my honest view as I stand here now is that Ed Woodward gave him a contract last season. He should see that contract through to the end and do the job. You can’t keep jumping around with managers.

Jose Mourinho joined Manchester United in the summer of 2016, replacing Louis van Gaal at the helm. Mourinho saw a shaky start in his first season as United’s manager, finishing sixth in the league. However, he managed to win the UEFA Europa League.

Last season was more successful, as Man Utd managed to finish second in Premier League despite fierce competition. Mourinho was hoping to make a step forward this season, but the club’s unwillingness to spend money on players spoiled those plans and damaged his relationship with the front office.

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho will have a chance to find their footing on Sunday when they will face Burnley.
