LA Galaxy are getting one of their key players back just in time for a late playoff push. Galaxy confirmed on Thursday that their DP defender Romain Alessandrini returned to practice and might even see some action before the 2019 regular season ends.

Alessandrini played all but five games this season after suffering a meniscus injury and being forced to undergo a surgery in late April. While the 31-year-old returned to full training, he won’t play in Galaxy’s upcoming two games against Montreal Impact on Sunday and Real Salt Lake on Thursday.

However, according to Galaxy’s manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Alessandrini might play in the team’s last two games of the season.

“Romain started to train with us today and maybe in the last two games, he’ll be ready,” – said Schelotto.

While Romain Alessandrini’s return might not make much difference in the regular season, his return could be key if LA Galaxy intends to make a deep playoff run.

Galaxy are currently sitting at fifth place in the Western Conference with 45 points. However, they have still not bagged the postseason appearance, as eight-placed Portland Timbers are just two points behind them.
