After being relegated at the end of the 2018-19 season, it did not take long for West London’s Fulham FC to regain promotion to the Premier League, as the club won another promotion to England’s top flight after beating Brentford 2-1 in extra time in the promotion playoff final.

The Cottagers, who finished 4th in the Championship in the regular season, advanced in a semi-final tie against Cardiff City and then wrapped up the job at Wembley against top-seeded Brentford to seal up another season in the Premier League.

Tuesday’s game was a tense affair, with neither team scoring after 90 regulation minutes. After 30 minutes of extra time were added, Fulham took a 1-0 lead after Joe Bryan found the net at the 105-minute mark of the match.

Bryan scored again just 12 minutes later to all but ensure that Fulham would win promotion. Despite an extra-time goal by Brentford’s Henrik Dalsgaard which added a tiny bit of intrigue to the end of the match, when the final whistle blew, Fulham celebrated as they guaranteed their second season in the past 7 years in England’s top flight.

Fulham will now look to get prepared for the kickoff of the 2020-21 season, which is set to take place in September.
