After his unsuccessful stint with Liga MX side Club León, former U.S. international Landon Donovan decided to try his luck in Major Arena Soccer League. He signed with San Diego Sockers in January and helped the team to Western Conference Finals. As it turns out, Donovan wouldn’t be opposed to having another run with Sockers next season.

Speaking with reporters after an overtime loss to Monterrey Flash, Donovan discussed his future and said that he would like to come back to the club but can’t make the decision right away.

“I would like to do it if they want me back if I have the opportunity, but there are a few other things going on in my life that may preclude me from doing it, so we’ll see what happens, – said Donovan. “I had a great experience, so much respect for the organization, fans, staff and Phil, I am appreciative of what they did, took a chance and I had a lot of fun.”

Donovan played eight regular season with Sockers this season, and managed to give a significant contribution to team’s good form by scoring five goals and providing 11 assists.

Landon Donovan is arguably the biggest MLS legend, winning six MLS Cups during his time in the league. He is also the league’s all-time leading scorer with 145 goals and all-time leader in assists with 136. Donovan also wrote his name in the history books of United States men’s national soccer team, making 157 appearances and scoring 57goals.
