Italian striker Giuseppe Rossi, who previously played for several high profile European clubs including Manchester United, is currently looking for a team that will help him relaunch his career. Rossi, who was born in the United States, isn’t keen to do that in MLS however.

According to sources, several Major League Soccer teams showed interest in bringing Giuseppe Rossi to the U.S., but the 31-year-old decided to pass on this opportunity for the time being. Rossi, who currently trains with Manchester United in order to keep his fitness, would prefer to continue his career in Europe. In case that this doesn’t happen in the coming weeks, he might reconsider his thoughts about MLS.

Although there are numerous teams that are looking for an experienced striker, Giuseppe Rossi has failed to get a firm offer since leaving Genoa in the summer. The main issue teams might have with the former Italy international is his injury history. While Rossi showed solid productivity throughout his career, he struggled to remain healthy and had multiple meniscus and ACL tears.

The team that might decide to take a gamble on Giuseppe Rossi are Tottenham Hotspurs, who reportedly offered him a “pay as you play” deal on Thursday. Tottenham is currently without their two main strikers, Harry Kane, and Son Heung-min, and only have Fernando Llorente to count on up front. With Kane scheduled to return in March and Son Heung-min in three to four weeks, Rossi would most likely serve as a temporary solution, something that might not be his top preference, however.

Although he was considered a big talent during his time with Man Utd, Giuseppe Rossi never managed to establish himself as a regular part of the rotation and played only five games between 2004 and 2007. He had better luck with La Liga side Villarreal, where he scored 54 goals in 136 games played. Rossi’s most recent team was Genoa from Seria A, but he only played nine games for the club before departing after the 2017-18 season.
