After parting ways with David Beaty in early November after a disappointing 2018 season, the University of Kansas didn’t waste any time looking for his replacement. According to Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, Kansas is close to getting Les Miles to take over their football program, with the two sides currently “finalizing” the terms of the deal. This would be the first job for Miles since September 2016 when he was fired by LSU.

This news comes after Les Miles recently reached an agreement with LSU over the remaining guaranteed salary than he supposed to receive after being fired. The university owed Miles $6.5 million in guaranteed salary, which was set to be paid in monthly installments through 2023, but the 65-year-old decided to accept a one-time payment of $1.5 million instead.

Considering his past success, Miles might be the right person to help Kansas Jayhawks football get out of the slump they have been in recent years. He is, however, facing a tough task, since the program didn’t have a winning season in the last nine years.

After successfully holding several assistant coach positions, Les Miles got the opportunity to be the head coach of Oklahoma State in 2001. He coached the Oklahoma State Cowboys with great success, posting a 28–21 record before taking over Louisiana State University in 2005.

Miles spent 12 years with LSU and managed to lead the LSU to National Championship in 2007. His record with the team was 114–34.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
