The veteran running back Jay Ajayi, who last played with Philadelphia Eagles, is changing sports. While waiting for a job in NFL, Ajayi decided to join the Philadelphia Union’s MLS e-sports team.

Union announced on Tuesday that they had signed Ajayi to represent the team as a professional FIFA player.

“Philadelphia will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Ajayi in a statement. “I am blessed to be able to represent the city through e-sports and to be one of the first pro athletes to become a professional gamer. Representing the Philadelphia Union for eMLS combines two of my greatest passions outside of football, soccer, and gaming. I’m a competitor, so you’re going to see me give my all for the Union at every eMLS event this year.”

Jay Ajayi started his career with Miami Dolphins in 2015. After two and a half years in Miami, which included a Pro Bowl appearance in 2016, Ajayi was traded to the Eagles midway through the 2017 season. He ended up helping Philly win the Super Bowl in the same season.

Ajayi opened the 2018 season as Eagles starting RB but ended up suffering a season-ending ACL injury in Week 5. Philadelphia re-signed him on 15th November, but the 26-year-old managed to play only three games before being released.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
