Justin Meram will extend his stay in the MLS after all. According to reports, Meram, who spent 2019 with Atlanta United, is on the verge of signing with Real Salt Lake.

Meram played 20 games (14 as a starter) with Atlanta in 2019, scoring four goals. His contract expired at the end of the regular season, and the team opted not to offer him an extension.

Multiple teams were pursuing Meram since then, but ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle reports that the MLS veteran will almost certainly sign with RSL.

Justin Meram started his career with Columbus Crew in 2011 and managed to score 40 goals and contribute with 33 assists over the course of seven years. In 2017, Meram was traded to Orlando City, but ended up playing only 17 games with the organization before returning to Columbus. His second stint with Crew didn’t last long, as the organization traded him once again, this time to Atlanta.

Over the course of his MLS career, Meram played a total of 243 games, scoring 43 goals, and dishing 37 assists. He added three goals and two assists in the postseason.

Meram also represents Iran on the international level since 2014, having played 33 games and scored four goals.
