Hue Jackson was fired as a Cleveland Browns’ head coach just two weeks ago, but he had already landed another job in the NFL. Cincinnati Bengals confirmed on Tuesday that Jackson joined their organization as a special assistant to the head coach. This will be the third stint with the Bengals for the 53-year-old.

I have a great comfort level with Hue and his ability to assist me with the day-to-day responsibilities on defense, including analyzing our opponents and helping me on game days with the players and defensive coaches,” – said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis in a statement.

I’m pleased to have the opportunity to join the Bengals this season,” – Jackson added. “There is a lot of talent on this team, and I look forward to doing my part to help it finish strong this season.”

Hue Jackson’s first stint with the Cincinnati Bengals was from 2004 to 2006, when he served as the team’s wide receivers coach. He rejoined Cincinnati in 2012, serving at multiple positions within the organization until he was named the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 2016.

Jackson spent two and a half seasons with the Browns, posting 3-36-1 record, which ultimately got him fired in the late October.
