The Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart sustained a “mid-body injury” during his team’s 5-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. With the score tied, Hart began to exhibit discomfort seven minutes into the clash, forcing him off the ice early. The injury appeared to have arisen after a scramble with Sabres forward Kyle Okposo.

Almost immediately after Hart felt discomfort, the Flyers’ defence collapsed when they conceded a quick goal at the hands of Brandon Biro to hand Buffalo a 2-1 lead. Two minutes later, a member of the Flyers’ athletic training staff made his way to Hart, escorting him off the ice.

Following the bitter defeat, Philadelphia’s coach John Tortorella stated that there was no update on Hart’s condition as of yet. Sam Errson replaced Hart in the game and is expected to cover him during his absence.
