Brazilian club Fluminense has rejected a €30 million ($32.5m) offer for local midfielder André from Liverpool, sources confirmed on Wednesday. While the Reds are hoping to sign the talented Brazilian before the transfer deadline at the end of this month, the Brazilian club wants to hold onto him at least until the end of the season.

Fluminense’s board alerted Liverpool that even if they decide to increase their offer for the player, the club would not allow André to depart this season. The 22-year-old player is under contract with Fluminense until 2026 and played a team-high 40 games this season. He has since attracted the interest of several clubs, with Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Fulham submitting a €20 million offer for André that was rejected earlier this year.

With high hopes of winning the Copa Libertadores this season, Fluminense will face off with Paraguayan club Club Olimpia in the first leg of their quarterfinal clash on September 24. Liverpool will likely have to seek out another midfielder to fill the vacancies left behind by Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, who both departed for Saudi Arabia this summer.
