Atletico Madrid’s forward Fernando Torres is searching a new place to play soccer after his contract with the team expires in the summer. As it turns out, we might see the 34-year-old playing out his career in the United States, since MLS is a viable option according to his agents. He could also decide for China.

There is no team yet,” – said Antonio Sanz, director of communication with Torres’ agency Bahia Internacional. “But we do have ideas. One option is the U.S. and another China. Not Europe, nor the Middle East.”

Fernando Torres, who has 110 international caps for Spain, announced on Monday that he will departure Atletico Madrid once his contract expires. There were rumors that he could stay in Europe, and sign with England’s Newcastle United, where he would be reunited with his former Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez. But, it looks now like the U.S. and China are his preferred options.

Despite his advanced age, Torres is still convinced he can play at a high level for few years and repeated that during the announcement on Monday.

I still feel I can play and want to keep playing,” – he said. “I have not listened to any offers [from other clubs] yet, but I will now. We will sit down and look at what we have, before making a decision when the time comes.

Fernando Torres started his professional career with Atletico Madrid and established himself as a prolific scorer. This earned him a transfer to Liverpool in 2007, where he continued with good games and was viewed as one of the best strikers in the world. In 2011, Torres decided to move to Chelsea, who brought him in by setting the record for the most expensive British transfer. This proved to be a big mistake, since Torres struggled to score with his new team, and eventually returned to Atletico Madrid after a short spell with Milan.
